Nantucket Love Story
Bride’s Dress: “Ryder” by Amsale

We met in high school and were close friends before starting to date.
Sam proposed in Woodstock, VT, where we have spent a lot of time together in our, at the time, 10 years of dating. He proposed in the morning by the fire, after burning the breakfast he tried to bring to me in bed.
Years ago I had saved a photo of a dress off of Instagram that I had loved - the silhouette was so classic and beautiful, but I had no idea where it was from. My maid of honor ended up finding out that it was an Amsale gown. I booked my first fitting there and fell in love with the first two dresses I tried on. Ultimately, I ended up choosing the dress I had always envisioned myself wearing; it was simple and elegant. I added an additional foot to the train, satin buttons down the back, and a very delicate belt to make it my own. And then the cathedral length, lace veil was the perfect finishing touch!
The wedding was on Nantucket, where both my husband and I grew up. We got married on the bluff at Sankaty Beach Club, with the reception at the Golf Club.
I was SO in love with my veil, and the wind was not cooperating that day. I was so disappointed that during the ceremony I had to hold my veil out of the wind, and it couldn't be as on display as I would have liked. So having the photo of the veil blowing in the wind is very, very special.
The entire day was wonderful, but I think my favorite part was that we wrote our own vows. I think it just made the day so much more our own.
